Building Services Government Contracts in Washington, DC

At the state level, Smithsonian Institution leads District of Columbia's Building Services procurement at 33% of awards, followed by Bureau of the Fiscal Service (17%). The distributed buying pattern means contractors can build a pipeline across Smithsonian Institution, Bureau of the Fiscal Service, and Department of State without single-agency dependency. These statewide patterns are a strong indicator of the buying agencies active in the Washington area. Statewide in District of Columbia, the incumbent landscape is entrenched: the top 3 vendors hold 71% of recent awards. New entrants should target recompete windows or set-aside opportunities rather than competing head-to-head on open solicitations.

Across District of Columbia, there are 10 Building Services contracts approaching recompete windows, worth an estimated $555.2M combined — any of which could create opportunity for contractors based in or targeting Washington.
